Behind the photographs
Stories beyond the still image
My work also includes documentary filmmaking. I was credited as a camera operator on Hell or High Water: Southern West Virginia Three Weeks After the Flood, a 2026 Ohio Valley Regional Emmy® Award-winning production for 100 Days in Appalachia.
That experience reinforced the way I approach photography: observe carefully, recognize the moment, and know when to stay in the background.
I bring that same attention to Frame & Flask, the event company I co-own. The setting changes, but the aim stays the same: photographs and films that feel natural and true to the people or places in them.
Find a photograph that feels at home with you.
William Nicholas Edwards
I’m a photographer, filmmaker, Army veteran, and co-owner of Frame & Flask. I’m happiest outdoors with a camera, watching for the brief moments that turn an ordinary encounter into a photograph worth keeping.
After serving in the Army, wildlife photography became my reset button. Time spent waiting in the woods taught me patience, timing, and observation. A warbler landing on the right branch or a heron breaking the surface reminds me how much there is to notice when we slow down.
What I look for
I photograph birds and wildlife with an eye for the light, behavior, and surroundings that make each encounter different. A portrait can reveal the detail in a feather; a wider frame can show the world an animal belongs to. I want both to feel honest and alive.
The photographs in this collection come from time spent looking, waiting, and returning. Alongside each animal’s name, I share a short observation and a fact about the species. My hope is that you leave with a favorite photograph and a little more curiosity about the life around us.
